Performance poetry



Shoe has been a performer for long . Here he was perfprming at HIFA in 2007. He uses his art to comment on social happennings.

Meeting Shoes Lambada the Poet



Shoes Robson Isaac is his name as it appears on his I.D, birth certificate passport and any other official document you might think of. However, his pseudonym is Shoeslambada which translate to the biggest SHOES you can ever fine on planet earth.

He is a saggitarian. His poetry is the tortured language, the language of human rights, democracy and good governance. Currently he is the Programmes Manager of the leading poets movement in Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights (ZPHR). He has been convening monthly human rights poetry forums since December 2008. Besides these, he, on behalf of the organisation facilitates the continuous capacity building of human rights poets in Zimbabwe through workshops and performance platforms such as festivals and poetry forums. Shoes is not relatively new to the poetry platforms in Zimbabwe as he has performed at the Zimbabwe International Book Fair since 2001alongside Michael Mabwe, Mbizo Chirasha, Mafumhe Mutasa amongst others and also the Harare International Festival of the alongside Julius Chingono, Chirikure Chirikure, Ignatius T Mabasa, Biko "Godobori" Mutsaurwa, Shimmer Chinodya, Cde Fatso, Jongwe Wezhira amongst others. Shoes also boasts of collaborations with other artists who are not only poets. He featured in a television series entitled "Inheritance Court" produced by The Will Writing Centre as an actor as well as a script writer. He also collaborated with Batsirai Chigama, Mybrother'skeeper and Barthlomew in a poetic play called "Illusions" which premiered during 2008 HIFA and the Mannernberg Jazz and Theatre Club for a week. He toured with a play written by Tatenda Chinoda called, "The Second Sex." The play centred on the issues of violence against women and HIV and AIDS. In this play he collaborated with another human rights poet and actor called Ronald Jongwe Wezhira.


Shoeslambada has been an activist since the time when he was the Secretary General of the Midlands State University Student Represenatative Council and the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) general councillor from 2002. He fought for academic freedom and was subsequently suspended twice by the authorities that be before expelled. Since then he has been performing his poetry and working closely with civic society organisations in Zimbabwe that include the Students Solidarity Trust, Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, Transparency International Zimbabwe, Media Institute of Southern Africa and several others that he shares a vision with.


Shoeslambada's poetry is recognised beyond Zimbabwean boarders as he has performed in South Africa, Zambia , Senegal and India.
